Hi!

it's Legends week, and I bring you another random bit out of the vault: Rebel Mission to Ord Mantell, an audio drama set between Episodes IV and V, released in 1983 "on both record album and cassette tape", which just makes me giggle. Star Wars on vinyl?!

I don't suppose any of you have encountered this one, but if so, please share! Otherwise, feel free to go on any tangent you like - from vinyl to events of 1983 (the eponymous video game crash perhaps?).

Hi!

The topic this week is the "HoloNet News podcast", which was created in 2008 to tie in with the 3D animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

I haven't given it much time, but this might actually be lost to time already: both the original site and the iTunes feed mentioned on Wookieepedia are gone.

I suspect nobody here has listened to it, but...maybe? Or, would you be interested?

Since this is such a niche topic, feel free to talk about anything related to Star Wars and podcasts. Do you listen to some? Do you have recommendations?

Hi!

This is a themed chat corner. The topic is: the magazine Star Wars Gamer., which ran bi-monthly from 2000 to 2002 and covered all kind of SW gaming, both digital and tabletop.

Paper magazines! That's a blast from the past...

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

Topic for this week is Star Wars Insider, the official Star Wars magazine. Did you know it started as The Lucasfilm Fan Club Magazine, with the first issue published in 1987?

What are your thoughts? Have you ever read an issue of it? Subscribed, even? (Wait, is it something you could ever subscribe to?)

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

The topic this week is Legacy of the Force, a nine-book Legends series set around 40 ABY and starring the next generation of Skywalkers and Solos.

Has anyone read this one? What are your thoughts?

This is one of the Legends series that is now very thoroughly retconned. Does that change how you see the series, whether you've read it or not?

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

This week's topic is the Empire and Rebellion duology, containing the books Razor's Edge and Honor Among Thieves. This series had an interesting fate: originally planned as a trilogy, it fell under Disney's continuity axe and its two first books found themselves stranded in the Legends continuity while its last book, Heir to the Jedi, was published after and adopted into the current canon.

Have you read these books? (Have you known they existed?)

Or maybe something more abstract: if you were to pick one part of any SW series (book, comic, movie, show) to stand on its own, which series and which part would it be?

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

Did you know that there have been radio adaptations of all three movies of the original trilogy? The first two were produced in 1981 and 1983, but for the last one the listeners had to wait until 1996.

I don't really expect that anyone here has heard them, but if you did, please share! For the rest of us: would you be interested in it? Or, to widen the topic a bit, what about other audio-based and SW-related content: do you listen to SW audio books or podcasts?

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

The topic for the week is Star Wars: The Lost Tribe of the Sith an e-book series about a bunch of Sith having a bad time.

...at least that's what I can gather from the Wookieepedia summaries - if someone knows better please correct me. Or not, I might be better off not trying to know everything about the Legends canon (there is so much of it oh my god)

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

This week, our topic is Knight Errant, a three-volume comic series set in the era of The Old Republic, starring a young female Jedi Kerra Holt.

Do you know anything about it? If not, does it sound interesting to you?

(Alternate topic since this is so obscure: who’s your favorite female Jedi?)

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

This week I’m bringing you obscure Legends content again, this time the Coruscant Nights trilogy - the stories of a Jedi-turned-detective Jax Pavan, only months after the fall of the Republic.

Have you read any of these books? What did you think?

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

For this week, I looked at Wookieepedia’s Timeline of Legends Media and found the in-universe chronologically latest novel: Crucible, set in 45 ABY. It came out in 2014, making it also one of the last published Expanded Universe novels.

Has anyone here read it, and do you have something to say about it? If not, I have also found an article about last EU stories published, which might be of interest.

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

For this week’s Legends topic, I’ve dug out the 90s Dark Horse comics series Star Wars: Dark Empire, which according to its Wookieepedia entry looks like the inspiration for the infamous Palpatine-clone-shaped plot twist of the third Sequel movie! Innnnnteresting.

Has anyone read this? Is anyone interested? I’ve already got my mitts on a scan, and if nothing else the art is VERY nineties comics…

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

This week’s topic is “LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game”, the 2005 computer/console game that brings the player into a brickworld version of the Prequel Trilogy, whose popularity spawned a series of other LEGO Star Wars games.

What do you think? Completely out of your range of interest? Fond memories of playing it as a child? Something you’d still recommend to a player in the 2020s?

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

For this week, the topic is “Classic Star Wars”, the comic book series re-release of the strips and comics of the Original Trilogy era (or the comics themselves of course, if any of you remember their first versions from the 70’s and 80’s).

And in case you’re not into 70’s comics, here’s a ridiculous prompt for you: which comic book, graphic novel, manga, bande designée or other “drawn” hero(es) would you like meet someone from GFFA?

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

This week’s topic is Star Wars Infinities, a 2015 Dark Horse comic series with an intriguing concept: what if things happened differently?

…yes, this is basically Marvel’s “What if…?” but for Star Wars (the original trilogy, at least). I haven’t read it, but I’m definitely interested! What do you think?

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

It occurs to me that we haven’t done meta/behind-the-scenes material in a while. So, this week the topic is The Princess Diarist, Carrie Fisher’s last memoir, based on the diaries she kept around the time she filmed Star Wars in 1977.

Have you read the book? Do you have any thoughts?

(Also, if you have meta/behind-the-scenes books, documents, or other media you’d like to talk about, please share!)

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

This week’s topic are Star Wars tabletop role-playing games. There have been several iterations and rulebooks over the years. Have you ever played one? Would you like to?

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

This week, the topic is the Jedi Academy Trilogy by Kevin J. Anderson, which tells the story of Luke Skywalker’s attempt to resurrect the Jedi Order (and also that one dude from that one comic comes back, somehow).

Have you read it? What did you think? Wkp tells me that the whole series got later retconned by another novel (I, Jedi by M. Stackpole), which means it got retconned twice if you also count current canon. Oh, Star Wars…

Welcome to this week’s chat corner!

Optional prompt

The topic for this week is “Tales of the Jedi“, the Legends comicbook series that covers the earliest era of the GFFA (not the upcoming series of the same name).

Do you know the series? Have you read it, and if yes, what did you think? If not, are you interested?

Welcome to this week’s chat corner!

Optional prompt

This week, the topic is “Darth Plagueis”, the Legends novel about Sidious’ own Sith master. The book was released in 2012.

Have any of you read it? Would you recommend it? It has the interesting position of a Legends book not yet overwritten by current canon. Would you like its plot to be “recanonized” eventually, or would you rather have something better?
