Hi!

Topic for this week: *Star Wars Episode 8: The Last Jedi, aka the middle movie of the Sequel trilogy.

Any special feelings about this one, this time around? Would you watch this movie if...

  • you were bored and it came up on the TV? (Pretend that you still own a TV that receives broadcast programming.)
  • a friend/partner/child wanted to see it?
  • they were doing a screening in the local cinema?
    • and you got free tickets?
  • you had free time and wanted to treat yourself?
  • someone held a gun to your head? :D

Welcome to the Monday chat corner.

The topic of this week is the movie Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, the last film of the Original Trilogy.

It's interesting to consider, that the Return of the Jedi, having come out in 1983, has been "the last Star Wars movie" for sixteen years. The Revenge of the Sith has been "the last one" for ten years, and The Rise of Skywalker is now five years old.

In retrospect, what do you think about that trajectory? Or if you're (un)lucky to have been a fan during one or both of those gaps, how did it feel back then? And how are you feeling about that last stretch?

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

Our topic this week is the movie "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back".

If you were to choose one scene in this movie to do differently - plot-wise, in the dialog, camera, cutting it altogether - which one would it be?

Or the other way around: what scene would you add?

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

Our topic for this week: the movie Star Wars: A New Hope, AKA "just Star Wars", AKA the first of them all.

It might be a little difficult to talk about this one! But... hm. Lets say you had to cast this movie today. Who would you cast for which role? I don't mean actors who look like the originals, but rather the roles as written, the farm boy turned hero, the plucky princess, the scoundrel...

Or, if you want to mentally scar us, who do you think would get cast in a worst-case version of SW? (I'm sensing some Chrises XD)

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

This week's topic is Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, a film that might be just much a prequel to the Original Trilogy as the Prequels.

I generally see this movie framed as the only good "new" Star Wars movie, so thought I'd give the opposite as a prompt: what do you not like on Rogue One? Or, what memorable critical opinions you've encountered, whether because you agree with them or because you don't?

Fun fact! I just realized that I skipped the Clone Wars movie in the movie chat topic rotation. *facepalm*

So, organizational question: should I use it for the next movie week? Should I keep it for the end of the rotation? Should I just not use it this year?

("I don't care either way" is also a valid answer.)

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

This week, the topic is Solo: A Star Wars Story, which tells the backstory of the galaxy's favorite scoundrel.

For fun, these are our chats from 2023, 2022, and 2021.

It's been a while since Solo premiered. With that perspective, has your opinion of the movie changed in any way? Or if not the movie itself, then the impact it had - on canon, on fandom, on ˚~the Star Wars movie landscape~˚?

Welcome to the Monday chat corner! This week, it's time to talk about ***Episode II: Attack of the Clones***. Now that I'm thinking about it, it's interesting that there's such a big time skip between Episode I and Episode II. The Original Trilogy has time skips too, but they're very subtle, and the Sequels have nearly none. That makes me wonder... if you were to replot the Prequel Trilogy to eliminate this skip, how would you do this? What would you change, and how? Characters, settings, plot points...? (...I'm aware this sounds like a writing assignment but I swear I'd love to know, this is *crunchy*!)

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

It's time for a SW movie again, and we're back at the beginning with Episode I: The Phantom Menace.

Fun fact, this is the fourth time we are talking about this movie. (Well. If anyone comments on this post. I'm not completely delusional, I know this comm is pretty quiet.)

I feel like there's something wrong with my math, because in previous years we've hit TPM somewhere in May. I haven't missed a movie, have I??? Maybe one of the "specials" fell on a movie week in previous years and not in this one.

Ah, well. Maybe Disney will finally drop another movie, so it will square up again.

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

The topic for this week is Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the last move of the Sequel trilogy and (so far) the last ever Star Wars movie.

Come to chat! Some prompts, should you need them:

  • If you could ask anybody a question about this movie, what question it would be, and who would you ask?
  • Is there a question you would like to be asked about this film? (And how would you answer?)

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

This week's topic is the movie The Last Jedi, the second in part of the Sequel Trilogy.

What are your thoughts? Imagine you're making small talk and this movie comes up. What do you do? Jump right in? Pretend you're not there? Something in between?

Alternatively, a prompt: If you could write a letter to one character in this movie (protagonist, antagonist, side character, some complete rando from the background), what would you send them? Bonus, it's a paper letter and you can include anything in the envelope.

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

This week's chat topic is Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the first movie of the Sequel Trilogy.

What are your thoughts?

Or, hey, lets have a prompt: which of the newly introduced characters you would bring:

  • grocery shopping?
  • on a 3-hour-long car drive?
  • to an art gallery?

...and how would it go?

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

This week, the topic is the movie The Empire Strikes Back, aka the middle part of the Original Trilogy.

Sometimes, the middle parts of trilogies are perceived as the awkward, boring part: the slow slog where nothing gets resolved. Do you think this applies to ESB? And if not, what do you think saves it from that fate?

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

This week, my choice of canon media is a little questionable: the three movies announced by Disney this April - one by James Mangold, to be set in the far history of the Galaxy Far Far Away, one by Dave Filoni, meant to tie into his TV shows, and the last, by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, which is supposed to continue Rey’s story as she rebuilds the Jedi Order.

…okay, so I opened my trusty timeline of canon media, found the Mangold movie as the first item, and went “wait, what?”. I am not the most well-informed of fans. I figure you might not be either - or you might enjoy speculating about projects that might never see the light of day (still waiting on my Rogue Squadron movie, Disney!)

What are your thoughts?

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

This week, the topic is the movie Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, aka The First One. Is there something you’d like to chat about? New idea, old idea, interesting tidbit or piece of gossip…?

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

This week it’s time for the movies again, specifically for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. It came out in 2016 and was the first non-Skywalker Star Wars movie.

A bit of Wookieepedia-sourced trivia, it’s listed as the first movie in the so-called Star Wars Anthology Series, which predates the Disney acquisitions and currently contains only two movies, Rogue One and Solo and it’s unclear whether any of the future SW movies would belong to it as well.

Anyway, Rogue One! Do you have thoughts? Fanfic recs? New perspectives caused by Andor or Obi-Wan Kenobi?

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

This week’s topic is Solo: A Star Wars Story, AKA the one that with all the backstory.

What are your thoughts? Where does it stand in relation to the main movies of the Skywalker saga - on the same level, same-but-different, a side note, something you pretend doesn’t exist?

Also, this might be a good place to rec some fanworks, if you have any!

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

This week, the topic is “Star Wars: The Clone Wars”, the 2008 animated film.

Fun fact! To this date, this is the only full-length animated movie in any SW continuity. Do you think it will stay that way?

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

This week’s topic is the second part of the Prequels trilogy, “Star Wars: The Attack of the Clones”, which came out in 2002. I can’t believe the movie is old enough to drink now!

If you’ve been around when we talked about the movie last year, has anything changed in your thoughts? Any new fic you wrote or read, any new fanart or fanvid you’ve made or seen?

And if you haven’t, what are your thoughts? Yay/nay/meh?

For extra credit, give us a question you would ask other SW fans about the movie, silly or serious. I’m not collecting them for next year I swear

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

This week we start another round through the Star Wars movies, with Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. If you’re curious or nostalgic, you can check out our chat from 2021 and 2022. Otherwise, well, what do you think? Who is your favorite and least-favorite character? And have you ever read/watched/played any tie-in EU material?

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

This week the topic is the movie “The Rise of Skywalker”, the last of the Sequel Trilogy and the as-yet-still last Star Wars film.

Yes? No? Rather not talk about it? (And reminder, you’re welcome to speak your opinions, whatever they are, but be kind to the others here who might not share them.)

If you don’t feel like talking TRoS itself… it isn’t that long since 2019, is it? How did the SW fandom change for you since that time? Did it change at all?
