Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

This week, the topic is “Star Wars: The Clone Wars”, the 2008 animated film.

Fun fact! To this date, this is the only full-length animated movie in any SW continuity. Do you think it will stay that way?

Given something has a direct platform now on Disney+ it would seem fairly easy to create an animated film. But it seems that we're actually moving in the other direction with shorts like the Grogu one and the Visions series.

I would love more animated films. Cynically, though, I’d be a bit surprised if Disney actually goes that route: I suspect an animated theatrical release wouldn’t draw the same crowds as live-action Star Wars, and if you’re doing direct-to-streaming, you might as well make six half-hour episodes and release one a week so that viewers have to renew their subscription for another month. But a girl can dream!

Same. I do think animation is the best medium for Jedi stories, since you can easily show them actually using the Force/doing superhuman feats, and make impressive fight sequences. No need to separate a stunt budget, no need to consider anyone's safety, no need to consider things like gravity.

I haven’t rewatched it but initially when I watched it, I thought it was alright.
