Welcome to the Dark Side. This post’s comment section is dedicated to all the angry, inflammatory, defamatory and otherwise outright negative things you might want to express. Not that saying negative things isn’t allowed in the weekly chat corners, but… you know how you sometimes just Have Thoughts about something, and you don’t feel like you can talk about it because everyone around you seems to love it? Those go here.

Some rules:

  • No personal attacks.
  • If you don’t want people replying to you, mention it in the comment.
  • Follow the general comm rules.
  • …that’s it, I think.

Yes, the thing that bugs me is that Emmy voters nominate what they see. They used to look at broadcast. Then they started watching cable when HBO's original programming picked up and AMC tried to raise the bar. And now with streaming, people are no longer watching broadcast. And yet stations that are broadcast like WB didn't get any attention when it was new either, even though there are a lot of now classic shows that came out of that little network everyone ignored.

At the same time, you've got myopic dinousaurs looking only at things like broadcast ratings. The pickup of Manifest by Netflix is a good example. Active fanbase, but a high cost show, and the network is only thinking of its first run value. Yet Netflix proves there's a large potential audience for it if they can find it and watch it on their own terms. Now it's getting a final season.
