I agree with you on this one. I don't follow the TV show meta discussions much, but explaining the recent success of genre shows in official settings by saying that it's only gotten good now is pretty offensive. Besides, it completely sweeps under the rug how differently TV shows are made, consumed, sold, and basically everything nowadays.
