grumbling about space-philosophy

Ugh. I am both tired and over-invested in SW philosophy.

Star Wars really goes hard on the "meaning of good vs evil" thing, even compared to some other SFF (and some SFF authors love their philosophising!). And then of course everyone has an opinion, and it's one Galaxy Brain Take after another - and yes, armchair philosophy is fun, but especially with morality questions it gets incredibly wanky, incredibly fast. You know, "stuck in Philosophy 101 and having to listen to a 20yo expounding at length about their Moral Theory Of Everything" level of wanky.

Can I just wanna watch people with glowy sticks lift things with their minds please?

...and then someone says something I don't agree with, and I'm like "NO, INCORRECT, you are Wrong and I will mentally write a five-page essay proving that to you".

(Not that I'd actually write it, mind you, I am a firm believer in free text interpretation and the fact that multiple contradictory reads of the same text can exist. It's just that I, too, have opinions.)

I wrote somewhere about this comm that Star Wars attracts "certain kind of people". I am, sadly, very much a "certain kind" of people.

(not looking for a philosophy debate. obviously. But grumble along if you need to.)

WORD. Especially when they're going after, say, one of the Buddhist bits of Jedi philosophy and end up saying some really unfortunate stuff. Just enjoy the glowy sticks in peace!
