Date: 2024-05-17 09:10 pm (UTC)I've found a a booklet that could be really useful for writing the "wars" part of Star Wars: Basic Principles of Military Tactics and Strategy: A Short Guide
It's meant as a guide for people playing tabletop wargames, and it's a very pragmatic overview of tactics and strategy, including some concrete... solutions, I'd call it. "As an attacker, you want to overwhelm the defender. here's how you'd do that," that kind of thing.
Which makes it a perfect material when you're trying to write about people who are fighting wars, especially if the war itself isn't your focus. I'm interested in war stories and I've done a lot of reading, but I'm still gonna use this booklet the next time I need to write a battle.

Date: 2024-05-18 03:49 pm (UTC)Somehow I have been living under a rock and didn't know that Disney announced a Mandalorian movie (titled The Mandalorian & Grogu) until this week. This is apparently different from the other movie that's supposed to tie up all the plot threads with Thrawn.
I guess we'll see what happens? At this point I am so jaded when it comes to announcements (and the Mandalorian stuff has not really been my thing) that I just sort of blink every time there's a new one. Given the popularity of this pair, however (the epitome of "found family"), I think this one might actually make it.
