I just find it completely unbelievable that some showrunner for a Star Wars show hired a writer who hadn’t seen any Star Wars movies, to the point that they had no idea that the main hero and heroine are siblings??? Have they been sleeping under a rock for 40 years??? How does one not even know this???

The writer should have at least done their research before! Or the show runner should have hired a writer who understands and knows Star Wars, like a fan.

I don't know what this refers to, but I can understand the outrage.

What I don't get is why the writer would want to write for a Star Wars show without having seen it. Maybe I'm too steeped in the transformative work tradition, but if you're writing in a shared world but don't want to pay attention to that world... what's the point?

I don't think everyone who works on a Star Wars property has to be a fan, but I can't understand wanting to ignore it entirely.

Exactly, the writer does not have to be a super fan, they still have the potential to write something creative, but at least they should have basic knowledge and understanding of the lore to keep the tone consistent.

At the very least, the show runners and team behind the Mandalorian and upcoming spin off shows understand this.

I’m only wary of the Acolyte (the show in question) because it is essentially created by the LF story group that did the sequels and high republic.
