1. [community profile] swrarepairs sign-ups are OPEN! It's a fanfic & fanart exchange for all Star Wars rarepairs, incl. crossovers internal and external.

2. I promo'd this on Monday as well, but I wrote a post on Anakin, the Tuskens, and (rehabilitative) justice. There's also some interesting discussion in the comments!

3. Due to the aforementioned discussion, I'm planning to write an Anakin & A'Sharad Hett fic about, well, Tusken mores and restitution. (No action, just philosophical discussion.)

Woo! I'm so excited about #3! I assume you'll post a link either here or in your own journal when it's finished??

Don't worry, I'm definitely linking it here once it's done!

I stumbled across "The Lost City of Tatooine" by David West Reynolds, which was a short story about the Tuskens originally published in Dig magazine in the late '90s. I've been a Star Wars fan for most of my life, and yet I'm still encountering things decades later that I have never seen or heard of before!

It's unclear to me how canonical this particular story is in the wider scheme of things, but there are a few interesting worldbuilding details about the history of the Tusken people that I don't think I've seen elsewhere. That said, it was written for an audience of archaeologists and it shows.

Oh wow! I do not care if it is canon. It is canon for me now. I really like the archaeology and the stories about the Ghorfa that the settlers tell.

The interesting part for me was that Luke exploring an ancient city created by the ancestors of the present-day Tuskens is very similar to the worldbuilding in one of my own fics. I wish I had seen this while I was actively writing those particular story and its companion--I don't know if it would necessarily have changed anything, but I always like seeing official/semi-official takes to compare with my own headcanons.
