The topic for this week is “droids”. Star Wars is a franchise where the robots are characters as (or more!) beloved than many of the blood-and-bone ones. Do you have any favorites? Or un-favorites? What are your thoughts on droid sentience? And why do you think there hasn’t been a droid uprising yet? (…or has there?)

I absolutely love R2-D2. He's so full of personality! And also one of the only characters to appear in all of the trilogies. (The Skywalker Saga should actually be the Palpatine vs R2-D2 Saga.) He's also spawned some really excellent droid characters when people want to rip off the "Jedi and his Droid" setup he had with Anakin and Luke – T3-M4 is a bit bland in the original KOTOR, but grows excellent in KOTOR 2, and T7-01 from the SWTOR Jedi Knight story is amazingly heartwarming. He is impossible to hate. I once accidentally picked an option that made him sad and had to ESC out of the conversation and redo it.

One idea I'd like to see done someday is a game where it looks like you're the Jedi Knight with a droid sidekick ... except that no, the droid is the protagonist and you, the Jedi, are the sidekick.

In non-droid-related things, I banged my head against Depa Billaba's age and came to the conclusion of time travel. Also, fun fact: Mace Windu and Shmi Skywalker are the same age!

I played a bit of SWTOR this weekend and T7-01's "lets save the world!" attitude is adorable. He's just so enthusiastic about it.

I would totally play a SW game where the droid is the main character. Maybe something episodic, so you would have something for the famous droids like R2, but also some originals just trying to do their thing. Aww, a mouse droid! (Preferably not one on a Death Star, whoops.)

Well, the mouse droid could be Vader's favorite and thus get a ride on Vader's TIE fighter and avoid being blown up? And then we get an epilogue where the mouse droid joins Luke post-RotJ.

T7 is adorable. Fixit idea: Anakin finds T7-01 in the Temple basement and does not fall, because it's impossible to do so with T7 there to be all "T7 + Jedi = save the galaxy!" at him.

T7-01 & Anakin fix-it would be adorable. That's definitely going into my idea file! If you ever end up writing it, I'd love to read it.

And lol at Vader's favorite mouse droid. Maybe he was nice to it and it sneaked onto his TIE? Oh no, that is sweet. (And sad. Anakin, you murderous moron.)
