Chat corner 41: The Aftermath
Jan. 31st, 2022 07:20 amWelcome to this week’s chat corner!
Optional prompt
This week, the topic is “Star Wars: The Aftermath Trilogy”, the book series by Chuck Wendig, which is set after Episode VI. It was published between 2015 and 2017 and its first book, Aftermath, was released just before the first movie of the sequel trilogy.
Have you read it… or decided not to? Never heard of it and now you’re curious?

Date: 2022-01-31 07:11 pm (UTC)...oh no, what did I miss this time?
*types "Chuck Wendig drama" into a search engine and hopes for the best*
(I did not get the best. The most prominent links when I search for it go to GamerGate subreddit. ohhhhhhhhh my god why.)
(For others who missed this prime piece of drama, this is a less wanky article that the Wikipedia links to.)

Date: 2022-02-01 06:32 pm (UTC)Honestly, I don't have a firm opinion on this. I've been on Tumblr for the entire SJW era, so I've seen all the arguments for and against using aggressive language when expressing social and political topics.
I suppose everyone has the right to their opinions and choosing the way they express them, they just have to accept that some employers won't like to be associated with a certain kind of behavior. Disney being one of those employers. And to be fair to Wendig, I don't think he went off the handle after he was fired, so he seems to understand that.
