I have been reliably informed that the time between Christmas and New Year’s Eve doesn’t exist. As such I leave you with this, ahem, present, wish you happy holidays if you celebrate, and I will see you in 2022.

...I don't even know if I should give the Dark Side post link this week. 'tis the time to be jolly and so on, but it IS technically a regular workday where I live, and as we all know, any day of the year is a good time to have Spicy Fannish Thoughts.

Ah, well. Tradition must be upheld.

I actually watched it Friday before last! TBH I don't really know why it got known as so memetically bad? I mean, yes, it's very much a way to get an acid trip without the acid, but if you like crackfic you will enjoy it. My end verdict on the movie was "I have no idea wtf happened in this movie but I think I liked it?" Also the music is great – I think there's four musical numbers, and at least the Diahann Carrol and Bea Arthur ones are well worth watching.

...I might actually try it. I am a weenie when it comes to second-hand embarrassment, but who knows, maybe I'll make it through! :D

I’ve only seen short clips from this special but there was a trippy animated sequence that introduced Boba Fett.

Lol yup! Not too bad, tho we’ve seen much worse in Star Wars.

Yesterland made a good documentary about the Star Wars Holiday Special. I saw some clips, like Chewie’s family and Leia singing at the end>

I vaguely remember watching that some time in the late 90s. My memory of it isn't good. Should I at least expose the Star Wars enthusiast in the next generation to it, or is it better left to history?

It was a wholly enjoyable experience in a cracky way, so yes, I vote you expose the next Star Wars enthusiast to it as well! You will at least get to boggle at it together. :)

We watched a little over half, at which point YouTube stopped playing it for us. I'd forgotten how downright peculiar the storyline is.

I don't remember it but recently watched the two pretty bad Ewok movies last year. Fit for MST they were.

However for Christmas I did watch the LEGO Star Wars Holiday special with friends. It's a delight, full of in-jokes and made for the fans.

On the other hand, I'm introducing my mother to Star Wars (OT). How she managed to get this far in life without ever having watched it, I'm not sure. So far she likes it. But we haven't gotten to the real bummer that is ESB ;)
