Optional prompt

This week, the optional prompt is “art”, whether in-universe or outside of it. Art is a very wide category, from painting and sculpture to pottery and tattoos. Even if you’re not usually an art appreciator, I highly encourage looking for it in your chosen SW media - I’m sure there’s something interesting to find there.

If you have favorite SW illustrators or fanartists, this is a great oportunity to share the shiny. And if you are an artist, don’t be afraid to share your work!

Alright, I have something! :D

Ever since I started taking screenshots of the Prequel movie sets as reference for writing, I’ve developed a fondness for its decorating decisions.

The Jedi temple goes for “grandma’s china” ornament:

Then you’ve got Palps and his weird sculptures:

And what the fuck even IS that relief? I guess the inspiration is old Hinduist temples, but given the context, all I can think of is Guernica. (Possibly intentional???)

Padmé has her own huge bronze bronzium statues:

But also, Padmé’s apartment is filled with random decorative junk. I mean… those things on the table at the foot of her bed? Why?

Only… *squints suspiciously* I SWEAR that tall thing that looks like a blade of grass is an actual art piece! I just don’t remember who made it! Argh!!!

A few other things I can think of:

I've seen screenshots of some really pretty art from SW: Rebels, but that's not my area...

There's some really fun "nose art" on the ships in TCW, but I'd need a bit more time to hunt it down. And when we're talking clones, armor paint and tatoos.

Hm, are those things on Ahsoka's face natural, or is it paint? Same for Bariss, and nobody can decide whether the patterns on the Zabraks are inborn or tattoos, either.

(This is all very Prequel-heavy, since that's my current stomping ground, but I'm sure there are things in OT and ST as well. I just don't have them in my head. Hm, maybe I'll go fishing.)

... I also wanted to show off some art by Terese Nielsen, because I love her SW illustrations, but apparently there's some scandal around her now???? Oh boy, we sure live in a society, huh.
