Chat corner 65: Obi-Wan and Anakin
Welcome to this week’s chat corner!
Optional prompt
This week, the optional topic is the comic miniseries “Star Wars: Obi-Wan and Anakin“, which features a random war (with dirigibles!), Anakin struggling with his place as a Jedi, and some supremely skeevy Sheev.
Anybody has read it? What did you think about the story, or the art?

Dark Side post link, for when SW is upsetting.

Not to promote ~crime~ or anything... actually, fuck it, lets promote crime. If anybody is interested in reading SW comics but money is what's stopping you, https://getcomics.info/ is where you want to go. So far I have found everything there, including some fairly obscure single-issue stories.
Or, if you're interested in specific bits (e.g. you've read something mentioned in a fic and are curious where it's from), I can send you just the issue in question.
Comics are a great medium! They're just a bitch to get into. I'm happy to help! I cut my teeth on obscure Marvel teen superheroes, I know what is pain XD

The art was pretty enough, and I want to know what the Sith were doing on the planet, now, but the writing itself was kind of dry and Obi-Wan a bit of a generic mentor. Ideally he should be sassing people and also going all "Well, if you twist yourself into a knot of Gordian proportions, the lie I told you will sort of look like the truth, from a certain point of view." Though now I wonder whether there were any consequences for him lying about the tibanna gas.

Interesting! I didn't think Palpatine's request for Anakin was OOC when I've read it, although I do get your point - he's usually portrayed more as dancing around people with a shark smile than throwing his political weight around. At least the writer didn't try to make Palps trick Mace into it - that I wouldn't believe.
That's why I like the scene as is, tbh: I can believe that Mace would agree to let Anakin go with Palps, even if he didn't like it. He doesn't think Palps is a threat at that point and chooses the lesser evil (the bigger evil being Palpatine causing trouble for the whole Order). Much background angst, ha.
But, ey, personal interpretations etc.
Gotta agree about the rest of the story though, it's dry. The whole Open/Closed conflict is very paint-by-numbers, IMO, clearly there just to have something as stuffing between the Anakin & Palpatine parts. Also, personal gripe, of cooourse the other characters in this story are stereotypical pretty women with interesting facepaint. Ah, comics. *eyeroll* At least I haven't found any sexily contorted spine in this one. XD
