Star Wars fanvids
Star Wars fans come from everywhere and the fandom has such a wide scope of fannish creations; from fanfic to cosplay to cookbooks. My corner of it mostly involves fanvids.
Here are some recs I thought I'd share. I tried to curate a variety and I hope some of these spark your interest.
2 Women of Star Wars vids:
as I scream by PoliticalPadmé
You wouldn't last an hour in the asylum where they raised me.
A wonderful showcase of the women on Star Wars set to a Taylor Swift song. This vidder has a great knack for emotional hits and this is no exception.
Star Wars Women || Power [Ahsoka, Bo-Katan, Sabine & Hera] by youtube.com/@snips6152
This vid showcases characters I love from the animated series (all these ladies now have live-action versions). Lots of action sequences make this empowering.
2 Fake Trailer vids:
The Mandalorian - Star Wars crossover (Din Djarin/Poe Dameron) by
bachaboska
Plot: Mando is sent to catch a criminal. But the criminal is his ex (that once stole his ship - for the cause) and Mando has feelings about that.
Poe just wants to kiss and make up.
Something different! And fun! I would read this as a fanfic and am impressed with the editing it took to make it as a trailer.
Top Gun | Tie Fighter by youtube.com/@JalepEdits
I feel the need, the need for speed - Join the Imperial Navy today!
This one takes the audio track from one movie and mashes it up into the Star Wars universe and I think it's incredibly well done.
7 General, Thematic, or Recruitment style vids
Rogue One

What choice do we have?
The editing is stunning and the song choice is haunting. An evergreen rec from me, truly one of my favorite vids.
Skywalker Saga (Prequel, Original, Sequel)
all my friends are heathens by youtube.com/@AlexaLexie
... It is the moment when they are on the verge of following the darker path they refuse to follow. The moment they realize that they aren't all that different from their enemies. ...
This vidder really hits the emotional beats of the music so well. Dialogue and sound effects from the source are incorporated into the vid, which I tend to dislike, but in this case it enhances the vid and the vidder is skilled whereas there are no jarring audio transitions.
The Mandalorian
You're Gonna Go Far, Kid by
rhoboat
Man(do), he never had a chance.
This is one of the first vids I saw for this show and it's still one of my favorites. The editing is so on point - with action, lyrical matching, and humor.
Andor
Which side are you on? by
damselfly
If I could do it again, I'd wake up early and be fighting these bastards from the start.
If we can fight half as hard as we've been working, we'll be home in no time.
This vid pulls out the themes of oppression and revolution using a song about labor unions. The parallels are well drawn out and the vid is poignant.
The Clone Wars
Star Wars the Clone Wars Tribute | Human by youtube.com/@starhawktributes3539
This is an incredible vid song and this vidder really pulls out the gut-punch emotions here. Really well done.
Jedi
I Feel You by

Using the force is hot.
Jedi mind tricks and action sets from all across the Star Wars Universe in the hands of a skilled vidder make this a great watch.
Sequel Trilogy

There ain’t nothing here for me anymore, but I don’t want to be alone.
An incredible song choice and the editing on this is spot on, I love how the vidder hits the beats with internal movement.
Have you seen any good Star Wars fanvids lately?

...they even made one based on comics! I've never seen that done before. (Admittedly I don't watch fanvids very often so I'm hardly a good judge of what is or isn't common, but I just thought it was cool.)

I'd not seen that one yet - it is very well done and the vidder integrated the comics source so smoothly!
I don't think using comic source is horribly common, but I have seen a few vidders do it.
This is an example from a vidder who makes great multifandom stuff. It's DC Comics and not Star Wars though (check out the warning tags on the AO3 post though): https://archiveofourown.org/works/34241545

Comics fanvids are so cool! I wish there were more of them, I think most comics fans don't realize they're even an option...

Me, me, I have a few!
