The topic for this week is the new Disney show Skeleton Crew. Spoilers allowed! I've seen people talking about the show around DW, so feel free to share your thoughts.

Not much to say about it yet with only 2 episodes, but I was very annoyed at no one in the ship considering that they could simply retrace their flight path, or for the droid not to have considered looking at the navigation log to see their trajectory. Just seemed a very forced way to take them to a pirate port.

I wrote a review of the premiere over at my journal, the tl;dr of which was basically “I liked this much more than I expected to!” Thus far it’s basically what you’d get if you stuck Star Trek: Voyager and Treasure Island in a food processor, and the result is turning out to be a lot of fun IMO. My only complaint is that it refuses to stick to consistent episode lengths. (I like knowing in advance how much time to budget to watch something!)

Well it already makes more sense than Ahsoka did... :D.

I really hope this is a show that doesn't lean on previous shows and pre-existing characters. Let this story and characters breathe.

Definitely agreed on letting it breathe – I wouldn’t necessarily mind a quick cameo from, say, Hondo Ohnaka or the Durand family, but I’m crossing my fingers SC resists the temptation to have Din Djarin (or whoever else) turn up to take over the plot.
