Chat corner 156: Kanan

Welcome to the Monday chat corner!

This week's topic is "Star Wars: Kanan", the 2015 comic series that shows the backstory of Kanan Jarrus, one of the protagonists of the Rebels TV series.

You probably know the drill by now. Have you read it? Did you like it? Would you recommend it?

Wookieepedia helpfully informs me that events in this comic now contradict with the animated series The Bad Batch, which is interesting, on a meta level if nothing else.

I jump between the Legends and New/Disney Canon continuities a lot, and they're both full of contradictions. I think there's a lot of frustration when a good concept is retconned by a mediocre concept and the insult is kind of made worse by the fact that Disney made a big show of "everything being the same layer of canon now" back in the olden days and stuff like Galaxy's Edge is sacrosanct, while comics and books always get the short stick. That being said, like. This franchise is so huge, expecting things not to contradict each other is kind of crazy XD I think people would have been less pissed if the retcon had been good, and/or if Kanan/Caleb actually looked like himself, and/or if it wasn't coming in the wake of general controversies about TBB
